KING Jon Sr. Jon King Sr., 40 years, of Temperance, MI, died Tuesday, September 26, 2006, in The Toledo Hospital. A self employed contractor for over 16 years, he was the owner of J.D.I. Construction Co. in Temperance. He framed homes for many area builders such as Tom Huner Builders, Bassinger Building Co., Decker Building Co., Decker Homes and Turi Homes. Jon was born July 31, 1966, in Toledo. A 1985 graduate of Bedford High School, he played football there and was the Homecoming King his senior year. April 21, 1990, he married Julie Bernath in Temperance. An avid golfer, he coached little league football for Bedford. He enjoyed spending time with his children fishing, golfing, skateboarding, snowmobiling and vacationing. Since the age of 6 he was raised by his sister, Virginia (Thomas) Rogers. He is survived by his wife, Julie, children, Brittney Johnstone, Nicholas, Jon Jr., Jacob and Madison King; sisters, Virginia (Mark Meinzer) Rogers, Patricia (Marty) Martin; 2 special nephews that were raised with him, TJ and Christopher Rogers and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Thomas Rogers. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 till 8 p.m. in the Bedford Funeral Chapel, 8300 Lewis Ave., Temperance, MI, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. with interment in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Resurrection Cemetery. Memorials may be made to a trust fund in his name at Key Bank in Trilby.
